If I had to pick three things to bring to a desert island, it would be an endless supply of eggs, bacon, and sauerkraut.

I know what you’re thinking: why not just bring an endless supply of cabbage and make your own sauerkraut?

Because the temperature will be too high for optimal fermentation, silly goose!

Also, if I brought chickens instead of eggs I would have to worry about finding feed for them as well as myself.

And why not bring a pig?

Because I would just end up naming him “Wilson” and get way too attached to turn him into bacon.

Which leads me to these Bacon and Sauerkraut Deviled Egg Sliders.

They are the embodiment of all my desert island fantasies in one adorable little munchie.

They’re not too much different for your standard deviled egg, except that they double up on the fun and present like a tiny sandwich.

Oh yeah–they’re also loaded with bacon a sauerkraut!

How to Make Bacon and Sauerkraut Deviled Egg Sliders

Start by cooking six slices of bacon. If you’re not making bacon in the oven, you’re missing out. It’s really the only way to fly.

For sugar-free, Whole30 compliant bacon, I’m a big fan of Naked Bacon. Just use the discount code “SOPHISTICATEDCAVEMAN” to get free bacon with any order.

Next you’ll need some boiled eggs. My preferred method is to use a steamer basket.

Simply line a pot with the basket, then add about an inch of water and bring it to a boil. Add the eggs, cover, and steam them for 12 minutes.

Immediately transfer the eggs to an ice bath, peel, and slice them in half.

In a mixing bowl combine the cooked egg yolks with some mayonnaise, hot sauce, garlic powder, sauerkraut, salt, and pepper.

Divide the mixture between the all the egg whites.

Stack some lettuce, tomato, and bacon on top of one half, then top with another half to make a little sandwich.

Secure everything together with a toothpick.

For bonus points, top the sliders with some sesame seeds to produce the illusion of an adorable little bun. Enjoy!
