I think the first time I seriously tried to cook bacon for myself I was probably in college.
Thoughts of delicious BLT’s dissipated quickly as the bacon I had placed in my high heat pan began to smoke uncontrollably.
Grease singed my arm hairs while I frantically tried to keep the strips from sticking to my aptly named “non-stick” skillet.
Several excruciating minutes later I was left with a smoke-filled kitchen and some mangled, half burnt/half raw strips of what formerly used to be bacon.
Now the older and wiser me knows that there is only one way to cook bacon, and that’s in the oven.
It’s a simple process which allows your bacon to be evenly cooked to crunchy perfection.
What You’ll Need:
- Baking Sheet
- Wire Rack
- Aluminum Foil
- Uncured, Nitrate-Free Bacon
The Proccess:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
2. Line the baking sheet with tinfoil and insert the wire rack
3. Arrange your bacon on the rack
4. Bake for 15-20 minutes to desired crispness
That’s all there is to it. Now the only problem you’ll have is how to keep the bacon from disappearing.
