I’ve spent the past couple years being pretty careful about what goes in my body. It wasn’t until recently, however, that I also began to take a closer look at what goes on my body.
Toxins don’t enter the body through the mouth alone. Your skin, incidentally your largest organ, also absorbs whatever you decide to slather on it. Run of the mill soaps and body washes can contain some pretty questionable stuff that I really don’t want entering my system through any means possible.
So I began to search for a natural product with which to cleanse myself. I tried a few various products, had trouble finding something that was both effective and that wouldn’t leave me smelling like a field of pansies.
Then I discovered Grandpa’s Pine Tar Soap.
According to legend (via the Grandpa’s products website) ol’ “Grandpa” Jess Hoffman brewed up his first batch of soap in sometime in the early 1870’s. One whiff upon opening the box, and you will be magically whisked away to Grandpa’s workshop to witness him rendering down some pine tar in person.
I’ll be honest- if you don’t enjoy the aroma of campfires or smoked meats, this probably isn’t the soap for you. But personally I have come to love the smell. It leaves me feeling like I have just been swinging limb to limb through a forest of endless pines.
The soap actually works too. It leaves my skin feeling clean but not dried out like other body washes. I haven’t had a ton of past acne problems, but I can honestly say I’ve had less breakouts since using Grandpa’s.
So if you’re in the market for a natural soap that leaves you smelling like a manly man, look no further than Grandpa’s Pine Tar Soap. After showering you’ll want to throw on a flannel, pick up my trusty double bladed axe and head for the hills of British Columbia.
