After filling my belly with some delicious Russian Cabbage Soup, I spent the second half of my Dockery Lake camping trip hiking to Blood Mountain.

Standing at 4,459 feet, Blood Mountain is the highest point on the Appalachian Trail in Georgia. No matter what route you take to get there, it is highly worth the trip as it provides some stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

The distance from Dockery Lake to Blood Mountain is about 9 miles, which made this hike 18 miles round trip.

It was another beautiful fall day. I found myself awash in the incredible colors of autumn every single step of the trail.

All in all, this was a hike for the books and the perfect way to close out my time at Dockery Lake. Until we meet on the next one…Happy Trails!
